INSTALLATION: Grinnell Mechanical Products by Tyco Fire Suppression & Building Products
COMPLETION: Fall 2010
CUSTOMER: Great American Tower at Queen City Square, Cincinnati
OBJECTIVE: Construct an HVAC system in a 41-story skyscraper.
DESCRIPTION: Grinnell Mechanical Products helped mechanical contractor T.J. Dyer tackle an HVAC project for Cincinnati’s largest skyscraper, the Great American Tower at Queen City Square. The 41-story building, designed to offer more than 1 million square feet of office and retail space, is shoehorned between existing buildings and a highway. This tight space presented a lack of lay-down area for construction materials on the job site. To overcome this challenge, the Grinnell Mechanical team enlisted a local plumbing supply company to help plan for built-in, lag-time delivery to the construction site. Grinnell Mechanical Products tagged and crated materials, and the plumbing company staged and delivered the products to the site on time.
“Receiving the material when and where it was needed improved the productivity of the workers and helped cut our labor costs,” said Mirlisena. He added that the coordination efforts and on-time delivery meant there were no problems on the site.
