ROCKVILLE, Md. - Dave Kruse, president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), introduced the association’s new Website - www.greencontractors.us - at the Green Opportunities Conference in Milwaukee. According to the MCAA, the site is a way to provide members with the resources to help them become industry leaders in green and sustainable construction and service.
In presenting the Website, Kruse said, “I believe this new and exciting market is all about strategic alliances, best value construction, and knowledge transfer, and this new Website is designed to help MCAA contractors grow their knowledge base.”
The new site includes the members-only Contractor’s Guide to LEED, which explains the impact of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for New Construction credits for mechanical, service, and plumbing contractors. For each element of the LEED for New Construction rating system, the role of contractors in obtaining these credits is identified, and each element can be downloaded. Additional plans are underway to showcase MCAA members’ green projects, Manufacturer/Supplier Council members’ green products, a wikipedia, and a blog.
