In 1974, Mr. Powell purchased Dallas Hermetic Co. in Dallas. Through his leadership, the company became one of the largest independent compressor remanufacturers in the United States.

Mr. Powell was born in Nocoma, TX, and was reared around the northern Texas-southern Oklahoma area. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and worked as an engineer at Bell Helicopter in Hurst, TX, for 22 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes Powell.
