Obituary: Harry W. Brown

SOUTH EGREMONT, Mass. - Harry W. Brown, 82, died Aug. 13 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. He was the son of Harry W. Brown Sr. and Sarah Ellen McGaw Brown. He graduated from Northbridge High School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at both schools. He married the former Virginia Bosworth in 1956. He was a member of the Great Barrington Congregational Church and Wyantenuck Country Club.

An air conditioning and refrigeration industry veteran since the late ’50s, Mr. Brown started with Metals & Controls (Texas Instruments), was a field sales engineer for both Tecumseh and Copeland, then founded H.W. Brown Engineering Co., a manufacturer’s rep firm, in the early ’70s.

He is survived by his son Stephen W. Brown of Portland, Ore.; daughter Patricia Brown of Darien, Conn.; sister Norma Hoisington of Uxbridge, Mass.; and four granddaughters, Alyssa and Carly Dudzik, and Sydney and Cameron Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Bosworth Brown (March 9, 2010); their daughter Alyssa Brown (Nov. 30, 1962); sister Barbara Pendergast; and brother Thurston K. Brown.
