According to Carrier, the Green Building Leadership award was established by the USGBC to recognize a governmental body, nonprofit organization, or individual working for such an organization, for significant contribution to advancing and causing the transformation of green building in the public sector.
Important qualifications for the award include development of initiatives and programs that have contributed to changes in standard regulatory policies, codes and standards, and tax and other incentives; project development requirements and other organizational priorities; and policies that further the adoption of the USGBC LEED™ standard for green buildings.
“Governor Pataki stands apart among elected leaders for his tireless efforts to promote green building and sustainable design,” said John Mandyck, Carrier vice president for government and international relations. “Carrier Corporation was proud to nominate him for the U.S. Green Building Council’s inaugural leadership award because through both practice and policy, he has positioned New York State at the forefront of environmental leadership.”
