Nov. 4, 2010: Danfoss to Focus 14th EnVisioneering Symposium on the Smart Grid

BALTIMORE - Danfoss will host its 14th EnVisioneeringSM Symposium on Nov. 12 in Scottsdale, Ariz. The symposium, which will precede the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute’s (AHRI’s) 2010 Annual Meeting, is titled “Smart Grid and Beyond” and is set to discuss how the smart grid could be a vital link in America’s effort to strengthen its energy future and achieve dramatic improvements in the electrical power supply-demand equation.

Specifically, the symposium will address how the HVACR and related industries can best plug in to the smart grid marketplace.

• What forces are driving the movement to a smart grid?

• How would it work - especially the interface of grid and buildings?

• What new technologies are required?

• What can existing technologies contribute?

• Where are the commercial and technological opportunities?

Presentations on the topic will be given by a panel of experts, including Mark Lauby from the North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) and Michael Oldak, vice president and general counsel, Utility Telecom Council.

“As the United States faces a continually evolving and emerging power crisis, the Danfoss EnVisioneering Symposia series seemed like a natural place to draw together industry leaders and experts to discuss the evolution of the smart grid,” said Robert Wilkins, president, Danfoss North America. “We will discuss integration with equipment, and current and future technologies that will help overcome current obstacles in capital, regulation, utilities, and infrastructure.”

The Nov. 12 symposium is the second event Danfoss will have hosted this year as part of its 2010 EnVisioneering Symposia Series - the 14th since the Series’ launch in 2006. The May 13 symposium addressed the strategies and policies needed to create and advance net zero energy buildings.
