Nov. 26, 2002: Weil-McLain Ends Talks With Home Depot

MICHIGAN CITY, IN — Weil-McLain recently announced that it has ended discussions with Home Depot regarding the sale of its boilers through Home Depot stores. In a letter dated November 21, 2002 to its distributors, contractors, and customers, Weil-McLain stated that it wanted to address rumors about preliminary discussions with Home Depot’s “At-Home Services” to sell the company’s boilers.

Robert Gussing, Weil-McLain president, noted his company had “heard strong concern from many distributors, contractors, and customers,” and added, “your valued input has caused us to evaluate our options and make a choice.

“Please be advised that effective today, Weil-McLain has terminated all discussions with Home Depot. We have chosen to remain loyal to the distributors, contractors, and customers that have made Weil-McLain the No. 1 brand of boilers.”
