CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. - The Nexstar Legacy Foundation announced its 2010-2011 scholarship award winners at the recent Nexstar’s Owners’ Spotlight Series. Seven students received scholarships to pursue education for careers in the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical industries.

The Frank Blau Jr. Award, worth $6,000, was awarded to Andrew Deckert of Green Bay, Wis. Scholarships worth $3,000 each were awarded to Sarah Masters of Allendale, N.J.; Graham Thurber of Topeka, Kan.; and Jesse Thornburg of Cambridge, Mass. Kal Gossett of Corning, N.Y., and Lincoln Deitrick of Zanesville, Ohio, received $2,000 each, and James Fingerman of San Diego received $1,000.

The scholarships were awarded based on merit, and winners were chosen by a scholarship selection committee comprised of industry leaders. “The mission of the Nexstar Legacy Foundation is to give back to an industry that has been so good to us,” said scholarship committee chair Julie Wieman of MacGregor Plumbing and Heating, Harbor Springs, Mich.

This year’s scholarships were funded through the Nexstar Legacy Foundation by individual and company donations. Since its inception four years ago, the foundation has awarded over $84,000 in scholarship grants.
