Nationwide Boiler Aids NY Relief Effort

FREMONT, CA — Nationwide Boiler Inc. has received a contract to provide a complete 140,000-lb/hr steam plant to Consolidated Edison (ConEd) of New York at the site of the September 11 disaster in lower Manhattan. The equipment includes two low-NOx trailer-mounted steam boilers, each capable of producing 70,000 lb of steam per hour, and a mobile water treatment van capable of processing up to 300 gallons of water per minute.

According to the company, the equipment will be used to provide steam to buildings around the site of the disaster for heating and hot water service. When operated as an integrated system, these units can generate enough steam to heat the equivalent of 3,000 homes.

“We all felt the pain and sorrow of the disaster and were wishing we could do something to help,” said Larry K. Day, Nationwide Boiler’s vice president of marketing and sales. “We were contacted by ConEd to see if we could assist in restoring steam to the area on a fast-track basis. Once we found out what was required and ironed out a few details, we pulled out all of the stops.”
