OTTAWA - NAIMA Canada announced that it has been approved for membership in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP). The goal of REEEP is to expand the global market for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable development through policy initiatives and the financing of innovative energy projects. According to the announcement, NAIMA, and now NAIMA Canada's, involvement with REEEP underscores the focus and commitment both associations have to promoting global sustainable development and energy efficiency.

"Our REEEP membership is important and appropriate because it will allow us to advance policies that seek cleaner and more efficient energy practices," said Stephen Koch, executive director of NAIMA Canada. "We are excited to enter into this partnership, and look forward to turning ideas into action that pursue a healthier global environment."

"The REEEP welcomes NAIMA Canada to our growing list of partners," said Marianne Osterkorn, international director, REEEP. "This year we intend to increase our attention to the promotion of energy efficiency, which can be implemented immediately and deliver significant impacts through reduced carbon emissions and operating costs. There is no point in producing clean energy if it is wasted through poor home insulation levels and inefficient infrastructure design. The experience of NAIMA Canada will greatly benefit our partners and projects in the developing world."
