Monsen Teams With TAC

FAIRFIELD, N.J. - A mechanical contracting company has found a way to expand even during recessionary times. Monsen Engineering Co., one of the exclusive companies that attend the MechanicalXchange executive summit sponsored by The NEWS, is becoming a leader in energy management systems and services.

Monsen has created a new company called Automated Building Technologies (ABT), an authorized Andover Controls Building Automation partner. This transition will allow Monsen Engineering’s automated energy management systems business to grow organically as the company continues to serve their clients’ diverse facilities needs.

Monsen Engineering’s automation division has experienced record growth over the last two years. This was achieved through collaborating with customers, helping reduce their facility’s energy demand, control costs, and implement corporate green initiatives. James Dunham will assume the role of vice president of ABT while continuing to act as director of automation for Monsen Engineering Co.

As a testament of this expansion and stability, Monsen Engineering is currently working on the largest wireless automation project in the country for TAC at Asbury Towers, located in southern New Jersey. Monsen is implementing peak demand and load shedding strategies by utilizing an integrated system of Andover Controls and Square D power meters.

“The changes to our existing clients will be minimal. We will keep the automation specialists in place where they have been servicing our long time Andover Controls BMS customers. The only differences will be that the uniforms, vans, and documentation will now reflect Automated Building Technologies,” commented Eric Monsen, president of Monsen Engineering Co.

“We are very excited to have the new company in place and look forward to broadening our reach within this market.”

Monsen Engineering Co. celebrated 60 years of service in June 2008. Family owned and operated since its inception, Monsen began as a refrigeration based service company. Over the years, the company has grown in service operations, mechanical engineering, design-build construction, and building automation. Monsen Engineering Co. provides each of these services to critical industrial and commercial sectors in New Jersey, southern New York state and eastern Pennsylvania.
