Modine Donates HVAC Products to Church, Gymnasium Struck by Hurricane

Two members of Modine's staff joined the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team to tackle the challenge of updating the existing structure, and give the 1,200 members of the congregation new hope.
RACINE, Wis. - Modine Manufacturing Co. joined with ABC Television's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to donate HVAC products for a church and gymnasium in Hurricane Katrina damaged-New Orleans.

Two members of Modine's staff joined the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team to update the existing structure, and give the 1,200 members of the congregation new hope. In addition to the repairs to the church and the gym's roof, the crew also built classrooms and a library in the gym for the children.

"We are extremely proud to help this congregation in New Orleans to get back on its feet," said Wayne Canfield, Modine's general manager, Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration Division. "When ‘Extreme Makeover' called and asked for help, we did not hesitate. Our employees around the globe are proud to help those whose lives have been turned upside down by Hurricane Katrina."

Modine donated two Power Vented Blower Unit heaters and all the support equipment, which were installed in the church's gymnasium, and one large Power Vented Blower Unit heater and support equipment, which was installed in a New Orleans Habitat for Humanity warehouse nearby.

"When we traveled to New Orleans and Gulfport, I couldn't believe the damage that was still there," said Hal Sindelar, Modine HVAC product manager. "It's immediately apparent that there is still great need in this area. It was a life-changing experience to see all the devastation and be able to help in this way."

In addition to this donation to "Extreme Makeover," Modine's Charitable Foundation along with Modine employees donated $150,000 to Hurricane Katrina relief. For information about Modine, visit www.modine.com.
