TUCSON, Ariz. - On Saturday, April 17, 2004, representatives of the Arizona Apprenticeship Program-Southern Arizona Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association (Southern Arizona PHCC) chapter were involved in "rebuilding" the Corbett neighborhood in Tucson, where 16 homes will have major plumbing and HVAC issues resolved. The project is being completed through a partnership with Rebuilding Togetherâ„¢.

The PHCC apprentices, for the second year, contributed their time in preparing job estimates and supply lists for the rebuilding day. This year, approximately 20 apprentices also facilitated the actual work done on the homes. Three instructors also volunteered their time: Meta Everett, director; George Hoffmeister, fourth year HVAC instructor; and Rick Myers, third year plumbing instructor.

Some of the major replacement equipment was donated for the project. Naughton's Plumbing provided a two-speed evaporative cooler; Heating and Cooling Supplies donated a two-speed evaporative cooler; and Segler-Reeves donated a Master Cool Cooler.

Southern Arizona PHCC is a local chapter of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association.
