May 19, 2005: Honeywell Thermostat Receives Frost & Sullivan Award

MINNEAPOLIS - Honeywell announced that its VisionPROâ„¢ 8000 programmable thermostat has been awarded the 2005 Building Technologies Product of the Year award from Frost & Sullivan.

"High quality, universal application, easy operation, and innovation in capabilities are the key differentiators that have helped the selection of VisionPRO as product of the year," stated an announcement by Frost & Sullivan.

The award recognized Honeywell's research and development process in creating the product. "Honeywell sought feedback from homeowners, contractors, as well as distributors under its research program called 'Voice of the Customer'... Consistent design and development efforts based on customer feedback and extensive market research translated into the emergence of VisionPRO, a revolutionary product that is likely to set performance benchmarks for the entire industry to follow."

Frost & Sullivan's announcement listed the following features as factors in the award:

  • Intuitive programming to eliminate the need for the user manual.

  • Real-time clock that maintains time during power failures and automatically updates for daylight savings.

  • Universal compatibility that can be configured for use on virtually any application.

  • Detachable from the wall during programming for increased ease of use.

  • Large touch screen for clearer view and readability.
