ATLANTA - With an extended technical program, the annual American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) meeting in Long Beach, Calif., will offer attendees increased options for professional development.

An extended session June 27 offers additional programs in focused areas to draw in more of the local audience and bring in new meeting attendees, said Ginger Scoggins, Program Committee chair.

“The Wednesday programs focus on specific, high-interest areas that provide meeting attendees with concentrated information on a topic,” said Scoggins. “By extending the day, the program will have a greater appeal to local engineers who would be able to attend the sessions for professional development.”

The technical program, centered around the theme “Conserving Natural Resource Use in Buildings,” takes place June 24-27 at the Long Beach Convention Center. The extended session on Wednesday, June 27, from 8 a.m.-1:45 p.m. allows for in-depth presentations in eight tracks:

• Commissioning

• Data Center Cooling

• Environmental Health

• Energy

• Heat Pumps

• Laboratory Design

• Peak Demand/Thermal Storage Systems

• Refrigeration

“With ASHRAE’s continued thrust in creating engineering tools for achieving sustainability, the Program Committee sought to select programs that further advance ASHRAE’s work in this area,” said Scoggins. “The program is also tailored to the interests of Californians, as natural ventilation topics are presented.”

The entire program features some 400 speakers, a poster session with 27 papers presented, and 80 seminars, presentations on current topics, transaction sessions, paper presentations and open discussions.
