March 4, 2011: NAOHSM's 2011 Convention Focuses on Education

HERSHEY, Pa. - The National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers (NAOHSM) announced that its Annual Convention, scheduled for May 22-26, 2011 in Hershey, Pa., will focus on education. There will be a number of both technical and managerial classes from Monday to Wednesday, as well as an interactive trade show.

Monday, May 23, is dedicated to managers and owners. There will be a one-day class for those moving through the chain from technician to manager to owner. This will include a series of tracks that cover such issues as succession in a family business, and moving from technician into management. There will also be a class on Manual J.

On Tuesday, May 24, and Wednesday, May 25, there will be a range of technical classes focusing on condensing (both gas and oil), hybrid heat pumps, new and emerging equipment, controls, resets, ECM technology, and airflow. CEU’s will be tied with each class and attendees can earn both North American Technician Excellence (NATE) and National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) CEU’s. On Wednesday, there will be early-morning sessions that include, “If You Aren’t Testing, You Are Guessing” and “Sell to the Needs of Your Customer, Don’t Just Replace the Unit.”

Speakers include Dan Holohan (with his popular class, Holohan’s Hydronic Tips), John Levey, Chris Mohalley (delivering classes on both ECM Technology and Air Flow), Jody Samuell (a trainer on Condensing Boiler Technology), and George Carey (speaking about Controls).

A number of products used for heating and cooling will be on display at the trade show on Tuesday (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Wednesday (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.). There will also be an outdoor area for equipment demonstrations.
