Luvata Acquires AST ElectroFin

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Luvata, formerly known as Outokumpu Copper Products, Middlesex, U.K., acquired a 55 percent majority ownership of AST ElectroFin Inc., Louisville, Ky., a provider of corrosion protection and durability solutions for fin and tube heat exchangers.

AST ElectroFin Inc. is a U.S.-based electrocoater specializing in coating high surface area heat exchangers for the HVACR industry. It applies corrosion control coatings to extend the useful and energy-efficient life of heat exchangers exposed to corrosive environments.

The company has plants located in Louisville, and Jacksonville, Texas.

AST ElectroFin Inc. will be renamed to Luvata ElectroFin Inc. and continue to serve its customer base operating as a stand-alone business.

According to Luvata, both companies are looking forward to working together to provide their customers with corrosion control solutions for heat exchangers.

“We bought a majority ownership in ElectroFin to improve our ability to offer coating solutions to coil corrosion problems, both now and as new applications arise in the future,” said Dennis Appel, vice president and general manager, coils business unit, Luvata.

The addition of the ElectroFin product line strengthens Luvata’s position as the leading global provider of heat transfer products and solutions for the HVACR industry.
