A new auxiliary condensate overflow safety switch can help prevent flooding caused by clogged air conditioning condensate drains, the company says. The ACS-4 overflow safety switch detects downstream clogs and shuts off the air conditioning unit before flooding occurs. The switch can be installed to activate audible and/or visual alarms as well. The switch/cap assembly is easily removed for inspection, maintenance, and cleaning of a clog in the line, the company states. It is packaged with a 1- by 3/4-inch reducing bushing, a 3/4-inch plug for auxiliary drain pan outlets, and 6-foot lead wires. According to the manufacturer, the ACS-4 is suitable for 24 VAC, 0.5-amp maximum operation, and complies with applicable building codes.
