Lennox Introduces Software For Rooftops

DALLAS - Lennox Industries' introduction of version 2.0 of the Sectra Configurator software package now allows users to commission single-zone and multiple-zone rooftop units to be monitored and controlled on the same network. Single-zone units can be controlled using a unit controller mounted in the unit, or via a communicating programmable thermostat located in the space.

This flexible system allows tenants to have local control at the thermostat, while a property owner or facility manager can monitor, troubleshoot, and override the system from a local PC or control panel, or remotely via a modem.

The Sectra zoning system is designed to provide the life-cycle cost savings and superior comfort control of variable air volume with an installed cost significantly below that of a traditional VAV system. According to the company, additional benefits of the Sectra zoning system include LonMarkâ„¢ system integration and a programmable thermostat option for independent control of single-zone units, but with communication for remote monitoring and control from a PC.

"Sectra version 2.0 was developed in response to customer requests to control both single- and multiple-zone rooftop units on the same network," said Mark Hess, product manager for commercial controls at Lennox. "Lennox will continue to offer HVAC control packages to satisfy the evolving needs of our customers."
