During a campaign to update its members’ contact information, the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) held a random drawing of all the participants for a chance to win a 32-inch, liquid-crystal display, high-definition television. Maurice Pickett of the RSES Central Kentucky Chapter, Lexington, Ky., was the winner. Pickett gave the prize to his daughter, who was away at college.

Pickett has been a member of RSES since 2001. He is the owner of Pickett Heating & Cooling located in Campbellsville, Ky., which began in 1971. Pickett holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and in technology HVACR design from the University of Houston. He also has certifications with North American Technician Excellence (NATE), National Association of Home Builders, and Green Builder College.

When asked why he became involved with RSES, Picket said, “I have always appreciated the educational and training opportunities provided by RSES, and I am impressed with the level of professionalism within the membership. Operating a small business has always been challenging, and certainly RSES has been in the vanguard in the area of technical and leadership development for the HVACR industry. Business dynamics dictate that we maintain a competitive edge through education at various academic levels, which enables us to provide a higher level of professional services to our customers.”
