June Unitary Shipments Can't Reach 2000's Record
ARLINGTON, VA — June’s combined U.S. factory shipments of 873,558 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps are a 9% dip from the June 2000 record of 963,429 units, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics. Combined shipments for the first six months of the year are 3,748,299, down 8% from last year.
Heat pump shipments of 182,257 units jumped 5% above June 2000 figures. Year-to-date shipments total 814,643, which is up 9% from a year ago.
June factory stocks were down 80,204 units from May, but were up 43,049 units from June 2000.
Distributor inventories for June rose 1,181 units from May; they were down 115,713 units from June 2000. Distributor shipments decreased 12% from June 2000, with year-to-date shipments down 5%.
