June 2, 2005: Westwood College Offers HVACR Program

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Westwood College of Aviation Technology, located here, is now offering a diploma and associate's degree program in HVACR.

The HVACR program, previously offered at Westwood's Denver North campus, moved to the aviation campus for the May term. Student enrollment for the next term, which starts June 17, is now open. According to Westwood, moving the program to the aviation campus enables students to focus specifically on the HVACR field. Students also benefit from being surrounded by other students with similar interests in mechanics and electronics.

"Our goal is to help our students get the most industry-relevant training," said John Clark, Westwood's HVACR program director. "This means creating a learning environment that most closely mirrors the industry that graduates will work in. Moving the program to the aviation campus, along with the industry-veteran instructors and technology we use for teaching and hands-on education, achieves this."

Westwood's HVACR diploma program focuses on providing students the training needed to work with residential technology, while also exposing students to select commercial applications. The associate's degree in HVACR builds on the residential foundation of the diploma program and focuses on commercial applications, as well as more detailed diagnostic skills and electrical/mechanical controls.
