Johnson Controls Launches Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Blog

MILWAUKEE - Bloggers writing about various energy efficiency and sustainability topics have teamed together to launch www.yourenergyforum.com, a blog initiated and managed by the building efficiency business unit of Johnson Controls. As energy prices continue to rise and individuals and corporations take a more active role in decreasing energy use and practicing sustainability, the forum will provide insight from experts on these vital issues.

The blog covers virtually any facility-related energy issue applicable to residential users, as well as large commercial and industrial users. The blog will also provide practical steps for lowering and managing energy use. User comments are encouraged and welcomed.

Facility-related discussions include:

  • Energy supply and demand.

  • Measures taken by individuals and organizations in response to the energy crisis.

  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

  • How to define and practice sustainability.

  • Home and office energy-efficient products and solutions.

  • Energy efficient heating systems for home and commercial use.

Blog participants include Barb Haig, president, Barbara Haig Communications, a consulting firm specializing in sustainability issues; Gerrit Reinders, director of sustainability programs, Johnson Controls; Branko Terzic, global regulatory policy leader in the Energy Resources Group, Deloitte Services LP; and Paul vonPaumgartten, director of energy and environmental affairs, Johnson Controls.

"Energy efficiency and sustainability are proving to be two of the most important issues this country faces," said Reinders. "Johnson Controls addresses these issues every day and we wanted to find a way to start a national conversation with people who are interested in practicing energy efficiency and sustainability. A blog offers a great forum for that dialog, among those of us in the industry, and with the millions of people who realize that this conversation will define the next 20 years."
