Johns Manville: DUCT WRAP
The Microlite® formaldehyde-free fiberglass duct wrap insulation has a new acrylic-based binder. According to the manufacturer, unlike phenol-formaldehyde binder, this white acrylic binder tends to remain more pliable, thereby making it easier to install. During installation, this binder may reduce the amount of itching and irritation associated with conventional fiberglass duct wrap, states the company. This binder has allowed the manufacturer to eliminate formaldehyde emissions from the fiberglass wool manufacturing process without energy-intensive abatement systems, says the company.
