Jan. 7, 2009: Frank Lloyd Wright Home Restoration Project Receives Carrier Donation

INDIANAPOLIS - Carrier distributor Airefco Inc. and local Seattle dealer Gasline Mechanical Inc. donated a Carrier Infinity Hybrid Heat HVAC system to a historic Frank Lloyd Wright home called “The Musical Note.” The Seattle home had been damaged from an 80 mph windstorm in December 2006. The restoration project has been lengthy, but Steve Enos and his family expect to be moving into the historic home in early 2009.

According to Carrier, the Hybrid Heat dual-fuel system, comprised of a heat pump, gas furnace, and compatible thermostat control, combines the benefits of intelligent control for both gas and electric heating to create an intuitive system that can actually react to changing conditions. No matter what the temperatures outside, the system will automatically select the fuel source most efficient for the home.

Under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 passed in October, homeowners improving the energy efficiency of their homes, like Steve Enos, were given an extended period to receive tax credits for their efforts. Enos and his family will benefit from these tax credits. In a governmental policy update, Brad Penney, Alliance to Save Energy’s director of government relations, noted that the Act provides “extension of the credit for energy-efficient improvements in new homes through 2009 that achieve a 30 percent or 50 percent reduction in heating and cooling energy consumption relative to a comparable dwelling. The credit equals $1,000 for homes meeting a 30 percent efficiency standard and $2,000 for homes meeting a 50 percent standard.”

“Carrier’s Infinity Hybrid Heat system donation will give the Enos family the comfort of saving energy, resulting in lower utility bills,” said Chris Nelson, vice president and general manager, Carrier Residential & Light Commercial Systems. “Carrier is privileged to take part in the donation opportunity with this deserving family in Seattle.”
