Blockade™ silicon brazing alloy forms a silver-gray cap that the user can see. The manufacturer says that the cap forms a 100% seal around the joint that is strong and leakproof. The alloy has a low brazing temperature, 228 degrees F. It brazes brass without the use of silver. According to the company, the silicon in the alloy smoothes the braze finish and almost eliminates the formation of black copper oxide, which hinders inspection of the work. This brazing alloy can be used in the manufacture of copper coils used in air conditioning units, the installation and repair of cooling systems, and the joining of all copper tubing and brass connections in larger mechanical and plumbing applications.
