The Firex® 4580 photoelectric smoke alarm quickly detects slow, smoldering fires. Designed for use in kitchens and furnace rooms, this smoke alarm can reduce nuisance alarms caused by cooking fumes or high humidity, says the manufacturer. Features of the 120-V hardwired smoke alarm include battery backup, preinstalled batteries, front-loading battery door, and a quick-connect wiring harness. The dust cover protects the sensors from dust, dirt, fumes, or other common construction contaminants, which can contribute to false alarms and callbacks, until the job is complete, states the company. The smoke alarm can be used alone or as part of a system; it can be interconnected with most other Firex smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, states the company.
