HUNTINGTON, N.Y. - The YMCA of Huntington, N.Y., received a donation of energy-saving control equipment from Intellidyne Inc., Glen Cove, N.Y. Intellidyne provided the equipment, and the YMCA paid for the installation. “As a nonprofit, we really appreciated this offer,” said Eileen Knauer, executive director of the Huntington YMCA. “We have high energy costs for this 39,000-square-foot facility, and we are always looking for ways to be more efficient, especially in this day and age.”

The original part of the facility dates from 1953, with a 1993 expansion. It offers two heated pools, four locker rooms, eight classrooms, offices, and more. Activities range from lifting weights to swimming to classwork, requiring all kinds of user comfort demands to be addressed.

“It was the kind of project we enjoy doing,” said Mike Ruff, Intellidyne COO. “Not only do we love giving back to the community by donating to and working with organizations like the Y, we also like the chance to work with a complex system that showcases the flexibility of our product line and our engineering knowledge of how to make it more efficient.”
