AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn University will host the Industrial Ventilation Conference in Birmingham, Ala., on Oct. 20-23, 2003. According to show organizers, the purpose of the conference is to teach participants effective and economical ventilation practices and design techniques, based on the ACGIH Industrial Ventilation Manual, the source of ventilation guidelines contained in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

The conference will combine lectures with problem sessions on designing ventilation systems that will provide the desired control over the in-plant environment, as well as meet the constraints of air pollution control and energy limits.

Through lectures and hands-on problem sessions, participants will be taken step-by-step through the design process of various types of systems. The conference will teach how to select appropriate exhaust hoods, determine air volume and minimum duct velocity, how to size ducts, etc. In addition to general sessions, participants will attend sessions that are appropriate to their job function or level of experience. Classroom sessions include “Ventilation Systems Design,” “Advanced Systems Design,” “Non-Standard Air Design,” and “Plant Engineering/Ventilation Design.”

For further information on the conference, call 334-844-4370.
