The AiraBella® ultraviolet-energy lamp system mounts in ductwork and fights against pathogen groups, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and mold, states the manufacturer. This system is for use commercial and residential applications. It can kill up to 97% of a wide variety of airborne pathogens, claims the company. The product has been tested to verify its effectiveness in a wide range of air temperatures and airflow rates for commercial and residential hvac ductwork. The company states that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with the Department of Defense, has agreed to evaluate the unit’s effectiveness against airborne anthrax spores.
