HRAC Encourages Participation In Skills Competition

Contractors employing post-secondary co-op students and/or apprentices are being urged by the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors of Canada (HRAC) to encourage them to participate in the 2004 Ontario Technical Skills Competition.

The contest, Heating Systems Technician - Post-Secondary Level, is designed to demonstrate the skills and job knowledge relevant to equipment operation, installation and troubleshooting, service, maintenance, and repair of gas heating equipment.

Participants will compete in three different areas: theoretical, practical, and interview skills.

Eligibility is limited to students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and those individuals with less than five years of industry experience. Contestants must provide proof of a valid Gas Technician 3 Certificate and one year of G3-related work experience or provide proof of a valid Gas Technician 2 Certificate.

The competition will be held as part of the Canadian Mechanical Exposition (CMX 2004) on Friday, March 26, 2004 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Deadline for registration is February 18, 2004.
