Honeywell awarded $6.34 million contract to upgrade Air Force base

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Honeywell announced that its Home and Building Control business has been awarded a $6.34 million contract by the U.S. Air Force to upgrade base housing and several major maintenance facilities at the Luke Air Force Base near Phoenix, AZ.

Under the contract, Honeywell will provide the base with lighting upgrades for eight of its large commercial buildings, include two aircraft engine maintenance facilities.

The company will also upgrade approximately 870 family housing units, replacing old lighting with energy-efficient fixtures, and modernizing the heating-ventilating and air conditioning systems.

To date, Honeywell has been awarded nearly $8 million in energy savings performance contracts (ESPCs) to upgrade facilities at Luke and Travis Air Force Bases in northern California.

Through the ESPC federal government procurement process, Honeywell replaces the existing energy systems in federal facilities with new equipment and state-of-the-art energy management technology. The cost of the replacement systems is paid for by the savings gained from greater energy efficiency. No new tax dollars are spent.
