The Interlink™ brand Smart Defrost Kit™ (SDK), part of the Energy Solutions line, is a standalone control module that reduces the number of necessary defrosts on a typical electric defrost commercial refrigeration system. After familiarizing itself with the system, the module evaluates the frost accumulation on the evaporator and determines whether or not the accumulation is significant enough to initiate a defrost. Unnecessary defrosts are bypassed, resulting in significantly lower operational savings, more consistent box temperatures, and enhanced product integrity. The SDK installs in about 30 minutes with no system evacuation required. It is compatible with Bohn, Larkin, Climate Control, and Chandler electric defrost commercial refrigeration systems. The Bohn Monarch™ and Larkin Solus™ Series air-cooled condensers, also part of the Energy Solutions line, use integrated variable-speed motor technology to optimize fan speed for load requirements, reducing noise levels, and making the unit more energy efficient. According to the company, the units can offer energy savings of over 50 percent and sound level reductions of 3 dBA versus the 540-rpm condensers. Features include EC motors, swept fan blade, and a FloatingTube™ coil system, which virtually eliminates the possibility of tube sheet leaks, says the company.
