Heart To Heart Gets HVAC Aid

NORMAN, Okla. - When Heart to Heart International, a global humanitarian organization, needed to renovate its main distribution center, a manufacturer, distributor, and contractor combined to provide some much-needed support.

Heart to Heart's 100,000 square-foot facility now has several new heating and air conditioning systems totaling 149 tons and all of the equipment was supplied and installed at an extremely low cost.

In all, 13 York Sunlineâ„¢ and York Predator rooftop units, featuring high-efficiency cooling and either electric or gas heat, were supplied by CFM Distributors, Kansas City, Mo., and installed by Air Design Heating and Cooling, Gardner, Kan. York International Corp.'s Unitary Products Group (UPG), which operates a major manufacturing facility in Wichita, worked with CFM to deliver the heating and air conditioning equipment at a savings of 75 percent. Air Design performed its work below cost.

"It was easy to get involved in this project," said Air Design president Greg Schmidt. "Heart to Heart has a tremendous reputation in our area as a local organization that reaches out and impacts our world in a positive way. If we can help them provide much needed relief by donating our services to this renovation project, then we want to be there for them. What they do on a daily basis encourages us to get involved and do something that is going to help someone else."

"It makes our employees feel as if they work for more than just a living," stated CFM president Tom Roberts. "It's nice to know that our local effort will have a long-term effect on the world community."

Heart to Heart moved into the 50-year-old warehouse seven years ago. Until recently, the previously unair-conditioned facility was heated by an aging boiler system. The new, more efficient York Sunline and Predator units will provide significant energy savings and offer the organization a choice between electric and gas heat.
