Designed for schools and care facilities, the AristotleAir® unit offers nearly maintenance-free ventilation and heat exchange, with the added benefit of air purification, says the company. Fresh air enters the unit from outside. Airflow is controlled by a damper system that is regulated by a thermostat, allowing optimal airflow during times when the classroom is occupied. The classroom’s stale, warm air enters the heat exchange chamber. The fresh air “borrows” the warmth of the stale air, heating the fresh air and saving energy. The warmed fresh air then progresses past the heater coils, achieving desired room temperature. The temperature is controlled by a thermostat programmed to operate to meet the day’s needs; there is a night or weekend setting that can be programmed to save energy. Just prior to release, the now-warmed air passes by the air purification component, which effectively reduces bacteria, viruses, mold spores, odors, and volatile organic compounds. The warm, clean air is then circulated throughout the classroom. When the room is unoccupied, the damper closes and room air circulates throughout the system with minimal energy costs.
