Golay Elected President of Sheet Metal Contractors of Iowa

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The Association of Sheet Metal Contractors of Iowa (SMCI) held its 38th annual statewide meeting on Feb. 9, 2007, at the Hotel Ft. Des Moines. Randall Golay was elected to serve a two-year term as president of the Iowa chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA).

Golay is president of Corn States Metal Fabricators, which was established in 1953 and specializes in HVAC, industrial, and custom fabrication. In 1960, Golay started with Corn States as a first-year apprentice and, in 1993, he bought the sheet metal business. Recent projects of Corn States Metal include the 2.3+ million-square-foot Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines and the 228,000-square-foot Mercy Hospital East Tower addition in Des Moines.

Randall and his wife Betty have three sons and one daughter active in the sheet metal business. Like their father, the three sons started their sheet metal careers through apprenticeship.
