The non-direct venting gives dealers the flexibility to replace thousands of existing single-pipe and standard-efficiency furnaces where addition of an inlet air pipe would be difficult, according to ICP.
Mike Eberlein, product manger, said eliminating the requirement for a separate air intake pipe simplifies the vent installation, reduces the amount of piping materials required, and reduces the number of holes the contractor must cut through the structure.
