INDIANAPOLIS - Carrier Corp. brought some relief to those in need with its second annual Operation Heat Rescue project. The company donated over 1,000 window air conditioner units to charities in cities across the country. The relief effort covered nine markets including New York, Raleigh, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Chicago.

Temperatures reached close to or over 100°F in all nine cities in early August, and in recent years such extreme weather conditions have lead to heat-related illnesses and deaths. Recognizing the need among these communities for air conditioning, Carrier decided to give back on a local level.

"With the success of Operation Heat Rescue last year, we felt we should continue to support local communities with the resources we have to help keep them cool, comfortable, and healthy as they rode out the oppressive heat waves this summer," said Johnny Johnson, brand manager, Carrier.

"Our company has a long tradition of giving back to the community, and it makes us feel good to know that we've been able to help senior citizens, people with disabilities, and low-income families with this project."
