EAST PETERSBURG, Pa. - The National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers (NAOHSM) recognized the first graduates of its Professional Service Managers Academy (PROSMA) at its annual awards banquet. This leadership program was designed and is conducted by Pennsylvania State University (Penn State).NAOHSM had identified that many oil heat companies promote from within, but often promote an individual that has no prior management training. After two years of surveys and focus groups, the association worked with Penn State to set up a program that helps owners, managers, and lead technicians gain the education they need to move into management. This program has four required core courses and two electives offered in New England and Pennsylvania or Maryland. Each class is two days in duration. A student can enter the program at any time and take as long as they wish to complete the requirements. Upon graduation, the student earns dual certificates; they earn a certificate in service management from Penn State and from the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA).

To learn more about this leadership program, contact NAOHSM at 888-552-0900 or visit www.naohsm.org.
