MEBANE, N.C. - Armacell elastomeric foam insulations, AP Armaflex® and AP Coilflex® acoustic duct liner, have been certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute to meet the indoor air quality requirements of GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM. This certification verifies that the products meet strict emissions limits for formaldehyde phthalates, fine respirable particles, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
According to the company, Armacell insulations’ smooth, non-particulating surface have made them favored choices for duct liner applications as more and more schools and health care facilities look for fiber-free, mold resistant, and durable alternatives to traditional duct lining materials.
Both newly certified products are said to provide excellent acoustical absorption, sound blocking, and duct vibration dampening when applied as duct liner.
The company said Armaflex products have also been used extensively in refrigeration and cold water piping applications because the closed-cell, non-permeable surface prevents condensation and moisture, which can lead to mold. The products also contain Microban® antimicrobial for added protection.
“AP Armaflex insulations have always been formaldehyde-free with low VOCs,” said Kartik Patel, global HVAC market manager at Armacell. “But this third party certification makes an important statement to our clients who are actively seeking products that pose no IAQ risks.”
