ACCA has reached an agreement with Aircuity Inc. (Newton, Mass.) under which ACCA members will be offered Aircuity's automated building performance and indoor air evaluation system on a specially-priced, one-month trial basis. During the trial month, members can take delivery of the system and receive technical training and marketing assistance from Aircuity. At the end of the trial period, members can purchase or lease the system, or return it.
"The portable Aircuity system can produce new revenue opportunities and competitive advantage for our members who choose to use it," said Paul T. Stalknecht, president and CEO of ACCA. "Quality contractors will be able to deliver more consistent indoor air quality and uncover energy savings for their customers."
The Aircuity system consists of a portable air sampling device; a secure, Web-based data collection and reporting tool; and an artificial intelligence-based diagnostic program, says the company. It is designed to monitor and analyze a building's temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, airborne particles, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), mold and pollen, ozone, and radon.
The system was developed for building and HVAC optimization, building performance verification, indoor air quality assessments, mold sampling, and to monitor occupied spaces during renovations, the company says. The product recently won an R&D 100 Award.
According to Gordon Sharp, president and CEO of Aircuity, "It's amazing what the air can tell you. While most buildings have no immediate concerns, there is enormous value in establishing baseline data. Just like your doctor wants you to be tested when you're healthy, understanding a building's 'healthy' parameters helps building professionals maintain and improve their assets."
