U.S. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham recently toured the fuel cell/hydrogen storage technology manufacturing plant of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD), in Rochester Hills, MI.

Abraham used the occasion to praise Michigan Governor John Engler’s NextEnergy plan — an economic development blueprint, released in April, to make the state a leader in the research, development, commercialization, and manufacture of alternative energy technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells. “By accelerating the development of renewable energy technologies, the NextEnergy program will benefit the entire country,” Abraham said.
