Emerson Approves R-407A for Compressors

ST. LOUIS - Emerson Climate Technologies Inc. approved R-407A refrigerant for Copeland Scroll® refrigeration compressors in medium- and low-temperature applications, per the approved operating range. With the approval of R-407A for Copeland Discus® compressors already in place, this latest approval for Copeland Scroll refrigeration compressors provides the industry with yet another option of where to use R-407A refrigerant in OEM refrigeration equipment.

“With the phaseout of R-22, the commercial refrigeration industry continues to explore alternative refrigerants,” said Leland Smith, director of refrigeration marketing for Emerson Climate Technologies. “Providing our customers with the option to use R-407A with Copeland Scroll compressors in their OEM equipment will enable them to fully benefit from this refrigerant’s capacity and efficiency performance, as well as its lower global warming potential.”

For low-temperature operation at higher condensing temperatures, Economized Vapor Injection (EVI) with Demand Cooling liquid injection is required with the use of R-407A for Copeland Scroll compressors. A Demand Cooling Module Kit is available for this purpose.
