EMCOR Facilities Services Awarded Several Major Projects

September 25, 2006
NORWALK, Conn. - EMCOR Facilities Services (EFS), a subsidiary of EMCOR Group Inc., a mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure, and facilities services contractor, announced that it has been awarded several major new projects in both the public and private sectors.

According to the contractor, these projects involve the maintenance, upgrading, management, and operation of mission critical facilities across the country. They help to highlight EMCOR's expertise in providing a wide range of high-quality, consistent, and reliable facilities services solutions.

"There is no doubt that there's a high degree of expertise required to properly maintain and optimize today's sophisticated facilities," said Frank T. MacInnis, chairman and chief executive officer of EMCOR. "Because facilities are among the most significant assets and cost centers of virtually every organization, our customers continue to seek innovative ways to manage their expenditures more effectively.

"By taking over responsibility for facilities management so our customers can concentrate on their core businesses, we are assisting them in gaining a competitive edge."

The company's newest facilities services projects include:

The World Bank (Washington) - EFS has been awarded a five-year (with four option years) contract to provide facilities management services for The World Bank's 3.8 million square feet of space. The three major support categories include building infrastructure (supporting World Bank engineering staff in operations-maintenance services), building services (combining EFS trained staff with specialized subcontractors for cleaning and landscaping), and facilities management help desk services (supporting approximately 10,000 employees working in The World Bank's four major headquarters buildings).

EFS will manage a delivery team of more than 200 experienced professionals, streamlining the activities of various contracts by reducing by two-thirds the number of specialty contractors serving The World Bank. Cross-trained EFS personnel will assume "significant portions of the scope of work," the company said, "managing a select group of subcontractors through a standard EFS quality management program, and utilizing the technical capabilities of one of EMCOR's local Washington-area subsidiaries to provide services to The World Bank's life safety systems, emergency generators, and chillers."

Lackland Air Force Base (Lackland, Texas) - The U.S. Air Force has awarded EFS a contract to provide system improvements, boiler replacement, and upgrading of air-handling units to the U.S. Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center located at Lackland AFB. A local EMCOR subsidiary is serving as the general contractor, and will manage the modernization of these HVAC systems.

Stop and Shop Supermarkets - EFS will provide general maintenance services to 280 supermarkets in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut under the terms of this 38-month contract. General maintenance services will be supported by 35 mobile technicians across the contractor's local subsidiaries, with the goal of developing a predictive maintenance approach. EFS is positioning 47 Stop and Shop employees into its organization, including full-time techs and management.

Bureau of State Office Buildings (Commonwealth of Massachusetts) - The bureau has awarded EFS a three-year contract that includes 24/7 remote monitoring for more than 1.8 million square feet in Boston. This four-building complex, referred to as the Boston Government Center, includes the McCormack Building, the Massachusetts State House, the Charles Hurley Building, and the Erich Lindemann Building. EFS will also provide mechanical and electrical operations and maintenance services.

EFS currently operates and maintains more than one billion square feet of space internationally for some of the world's most respected companies, prominent government agencies, and major universities, the contractor said.
