The Wattsaver heat pump water heater is designed as a “drop-in” direct replacement for existing 50-gallon electric water heaters. The water heater can be installed wherever a standard electric water heater can be installed, says the company. The unit has the same connections for hot and cold water and 208-240-VAC power as a standard electric water heater, states the manufacturer. The system requires a condensate drain line. According to the company, the unit reduces peak electric demand, anywhere from 500 to 1 kW per unit.
