DTE Energy Offers New Rebates for Energy-Efficient Furnaces

DETROIT - DTE Energy announced it is providing rebates to its MichCon and Detroit Edison customers who purchase and install qualifying energy-efficient furnaces, furnaces with an electronically commutated motor (ECM), and programmable thermostats for their homes. The new rebates, ranging from $20 to $200, are offered through the company’s energy efficiency program, Your Energy Savings.

Denise Allard, DTE Energy program manager, noted, “These rebates, especially if combined with federal tax credits that expire Dec. 31, can add up to substantial savings.”

DTE Energy’s rebates include:

• $200 for MichCon customers who purchase qualifying furnaces rated 95 percent or better according to the Department of Energy’s Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) standards;

• $100 for Detroit Edison customers who purchase furnaces with an ECM; and

• $20 for MichCon and Detroit Edison customers who purchase programmable thermostats.

Rebates for high-efficiency furnaces, furnaces with ECMs, and thermostats will be provided to customers through participating HVAC contractors who will submit required documentation to DTE Energy. A list of these contractors and more details on eligible products is available at YourEnergySavings.com or by calling 866-796-0512. Those purchasing only a programmable thermostat can download the mail-in rebate form at YourEngerySavings.com. Customers can expect to receive rebate checks in approximately six to eight weeks.

In addition to DTE Energy’s rebates, homeowners may be eligible for federal tax credits of up to 30 percent of the purchase price of qualified energy efficient products, up to a maximum household credit of $1,500. For more information, visit www.energystar.gov.
