Diamond vent screens are guards for furnace and water heater exhaust vents. The patent-pending screens are specially designed to keep out animals such as birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and bats, which can get into exhaust vents that don’t have screens. The screens also can prevent children from placing landscaping rocks and small toys inside exhaust pipes while playing outside, says the company. The screen comes in four sizes: 2 (DVS-2), 2.5 (DVS-2.5), 3 (DVS-3), and 4 inches (DVS-4). It has 3/4-inch spacing on the ABS screen. The manufacturer recommends use of a dab of silicone, not glue, to install the screen.
