Dec. 5, 2008: Fulcrum Group to Provide Energy Efficiency Upgrades for NYPA

NEW YORK - The Fulcrum Group announced that Fulcrum Facilities Services has been awarded a contract to provide energy services for the New York Power Authority (NYPA).

Under the contract, Fulcrum will deliver a broad range of energy efficiency upgrades in selected facilities in southeast New York, which includes the five boroughs of New York City and Westchester County. Fulcrum will conduct feasibility studies, evaluate existing and proposed systems, develop designs, recommend equipment purchases, and supervise installation and commissioning. The scope of work will include central plant upgrades, chiller and boiler replacements, as well as HVAC, building automation system, and photovoltaic installations.

Fulcrum noted that although it is a relatively new company, its leadership has been implementing energy efficiency projects for nearly three decades. Working at both the state and national levels, its professionals have assisted a number of institutions in developing successful energy programs including the New York State Office of Mental Health, achieving energy consumption reductions of more than 60 percent during the 1990s. Fulcrum staff members have also worked on projects for other New York institutions including the Rockefeller University, the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Skirball Center at New York University Medical Center.

Fulcrum is currently leading the commissioning process and providing program management support for the combined heat and power system serving New York City’s newest skyscraper, The Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park.
