Daikin and McQuay Open New Center

Takenori Miyamoto (left), general manager of the Applied Development Center and Ron Hanlon, COO of McQuay Americas take a moment to celebrate the facility’s opening.

PLYMOUTH, Minn. - Daikin Industries Ltd. and McQuay International used the grand opening of their Applied Development Center in Plymouth, Minn., to share some ambitious goals for product development and for leadership in the global HVAC market.

Ron Hanlon, COO of McQuay Americas, stated that the company’s commitment to research and development of applied products would make a significant contribution to Daikin’s overall goal, “to be the number one HVAC solutions provider in the world by 2010.”

Hanlon added that the opening of the new $50 million 49,000-square-foot facility is, “an exciting and concrete example of Daikin’s commitment to growth in the applied HVAC market worldwide and McQuay’s North America business in particular.”

The purpose of the new center, according to the company, is to develop and test advanced chiller, compressor and other HVAC technologies to reduce energy consumption and ultimately the carbon footprint of the buildings where they will be used.

According to Takenori Miyamoto, general manager of the Applied Development Center, the new building can, “simulate building, electrical, and climate conditions of any location throughout the world, allowing the basic design development of new products to be centrally located in this facility.”

Both Hanlon and Miyamoto addressed hundreds of company employees and a host of special guests and customers including George Hisaeda, general counsel of Japan and Noriyuke Inoue, chairman and CEO of Daikin Industries Ltd.
