CSI Looks to Improve Construction Projects

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is currently gathering input to expand its MasterFormat.™ This is a list of 16 divisions, supported by a three-level numbering system, for organizing information on construction require-ments, products, and activities into a standard sequence.

CSI says this standardization should result in construction projects that are completed on time, within budget, and with a reduction of mis-communication problems that cause delays and costly errors.

A special expansion task team has been appointed to revise Master-Format with a view toward accommodating telecommunications and infrastructure needs while maintaining the overall consistency of the industry standard.

CSI says it will take suggestions and gather information on the revisions through Aug. 1. Send your recommendations to Greg Ceton at gceton@csinet.org (e-mail).
